In first grade, students will learn to read sight words, and will read and understand fiction and non-fiction text. Students will practice to become stronger writers! In math, students will count and write numbers to 120, understand place value and ways to make numbers, learn add and subtract to 20 by memory and will learn to add and subtract double digit numbers. In science, students will learn about the sun, moon and stars; light and sound; and plants and animals. In social studies, students will learn about where we live; how people lived long ago; and how they can be good citizens.
